The industry which provides the most employment opportunity except from the agriculture and can use the increase in the number of post graduate people following the establishment of the universities in each province is the service industry.

Service industry in Iğdır focuses on wholesale and retail sales, construction, administrative and support activities (accounting, secretary, etc.) activities for human health and social services through education, especially on transportation and warehousing.

Shopping, food-beverage services and entertainment industry are the areas which are required to be invested in Iğdır. Activity areas specified have significant roles in drawing Iranian and Azerbaijan tourists and transformation of Eastern Anatolia into appeal center.

Call center is the primary sector within the sub-sectors where the increased number of educated labor force can be employed. There is 1 call center already operating in Iğdır. Call center is expected to be followed by renewable energy investments.

According to Iğdır and Fotovoltaik (FV) Solar Power study, radiation value of Iğdır was measured as 1636 kWh/m²-year as primary scenario. This value is above the value of 1620 kWh/m²-year specified as the threshold value for the investments considered suitable by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. On the other hand, Iğdır is the second province which has the longest sunshine duration in Turkey following Hakkâri.
